SAFE HOLIDAY TIPS

The townships of Portsea, Sorrento and Blairgowrie are a summer playground for many months of the year, populations expand, Holiday homes are occupied, beaches are swarmed upon by enormous crowds and most are out to enjoy the sun and surf. To ensure a safe and fun holiday "Play it Safe"

1. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE - Be aware of your surrounding environment and any hazards in the area.
2. Bushfires can occur on the Peninsula - Be prepared!
3. Fire Restrictions are in force during Fire Danger Period. Please contact the Shire for restriction dates.
4. Permanent and semi permanent residents should clearly mark their house number and maintain vegetation appropriately
   (seek further advice from the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer)
5. All property owners are encouraged to have and practice a practical Bushfire Survival Plan.

VOLUNTEERS AND RECRUITMENT

• Volunteers are welcome at anytime, including non firefighting volunteers and daytime Responders
• Recruitment Training and many other training opportunities are available to the volunteer
• Volunteers also enjoy social events and new friendships formed within the brigade
