The Homestead was built by Alexander Balcombe in the mid 1860s although he had acquired the property from original owner Captain Reid in 1846.
The outbuildings pre-date the main house with the Hutch being erected in c1846 from a pre-fabricated pack brought out from Britain and the South Wing which was the first homestead built by the Balcombes being erected in mid 1850s.
As well as many interesting outbuildings on the property the homestead houses the extensive Napoleonic Collection.
